TSK Job Posting: Social Enterprise Program Director

Three Sisters Kitchen (TSK) uses the power and love of local food to create economic opportunity, improve community health, and bring our diverse communities together around the table. The social enterprise programs at TSK serve multiple purposes in service of our mission, serving as case studies in our Food Business Training programs, creating opportunities for local procurement, supporting good jobs, and generating revenue for the organization’s nonprofit programs. Enterprises include:

Cafe at Explora Children’s Science Museum – Grab and go concessions and local retail focused affordable, delicious and healthy food for the community while engaging in high-road business practices.

TSK: Food Group – A manufactured food product line with a focus on local ingredients and flavors. Notable products include five flavors of New Mexico inspired granola; three spice shakes and a gluten-free blue corn waffle mix sold at a variety of retailers across the state.

Wholesale Prepared Food Production – Packaged and prepared food intended for resale by local cafes, convenience stores, and vending machines with a focus on featuring locally grown and produced ingredients.

TSK Caters- Catering menu is focused on breakfast and lunch with an ordering cap of 100.

The Social Enterprise Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of TSK social enterprises including supervision of program managers, establishing new business relationships, identifying potential revenue sources, and working with their teams to minimize waste, maximize revenue and maintain a healthy work culture.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Refine and implement menus, products, and business strategy of TSK Social Enterprise Programs
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate individual managers to ensure successful business practices and employee growth
  • Identify and implement operational procedures to ensure efficiency in all programs
  • Oversee budgets and financial activities of diverse social enterprise programs
  • Establish and maintain a purchase order system across the organization and ensure budget requirements are met by each program
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures to create uniformity across programs and locations
  • Identify and implement cost-cutting and waste management measures
  • Negotiate new business contracts with vendors and buyers, and maintain contracts and relationships with existing customers and vendors
  • Build relationships with local farmers and business partners, and prioritize local sourcing, reflecting the community focused standards of the organization
  • Serve as a guest speaker in TSK’s programs including the Food Business Training Program
  • Provide technical assistance to Food Business Training Program graduates
  • Represent TSK at outside events including networking and public speaking
  • Track business performance and report to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors
  • Work with local regulators to ensure compliance in all business and kitchen activities

Requirements:

  • Degree in business administration, management, or relevant experience
  • At least 5 years in food business management experience
  • Exceptional leadership, teaching, and communication skills
  • Excitement about teaching and mentorship
  • Ability to read and understand basic accounting reports
  • Proficient in business management tools including Quickbooks and CRM
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft programs including Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
  • Proven problem solver and decision maker
  • Experience in the food industry
  • Bilingual preferred, but not required
  • Desire to create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for our staff, clients, and vendors
  • Willingness to maintain covid safe operations (universal masking and covid vaccination & boosters)
