Three Sisters Kitchen (TSK) uses the power and love of local food to create economic opportunity, improve community health, and bring our diverse communities together around the table. The Food Business Training Program at TSK offers technical assistance, training and support to growers, producers and emerging business owners who are launching a manufactured food product. As a core part of our mission is to support local farmers, at least one ingredient in the businesses we support must be sourced locally.
The Food Business Training Program Teaching Assistant is responsible for administrative and support tasks associated with delivering the Food Business Training Program as well as ongoing technical support for program graduates. This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Kitchen Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting facilitation and delivery of a 12 week training program for aspiring manufactured food producers (calendar management, tracking attendance, uploading content to online teaching platforms, etc).
- Maintaining accurate records and tracking data.
- Assisting in content delivery, workshops, site visits and farm tours as needed.
- Building and maintaining relationships with program participants, graduates, local growers and producers.
- Stay current with food safety regulations and support program participants with regulatory compliance during lab and production cycles.
- Reflecting the community focused standards of the organization.
Requirements:
- Bilingual Spanish & English required;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish; – Exceptional organizational skills / Ability to organize and track data for multiple projects;
- Desire to create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for our program participants and graduates;
- Desire to learn about food safety, business startup and regulatory processes;
- Ability to utilize Google Suite programs including Docs, Sheets, Forms and Classroom;
- Experience in the food industry or as a small business owner prioritized;
- Experience in adult learning or education prioritized;
- Food Safety Certification (ServSafe, Better Process Control School, etc) is preferred but not required;
