What is basil and what are its health benefits?
Basil is an herb that has a strong and pungent smell. It is commonly used in cooking to add flavors or used as an essential oil. Basil has plant compounds, such as eugenol and limonene, that are beneficial for immunity and stress relief.

Avocado and Mango Salad with Yogurt
Ingredients: Makes 2 servings
2 cups combination of salad mix and spinach
1/2 avocado
1/2 mango
1/2 cup sunflower sprouts
4 tbsps honey yogurt
4 basil leaves
Instructions:
Rinse greens to remove any dirt.
Slice avocado in half. Remove the pit and scoop out the flesh using a spoon. Dice or slice using a knife and set aside.
Slice the mango into three parts (left, middle with the pit, right) and dice or slice the flesh using a knife without breaking the skin. Scoop out using a spoon and set aside.
Stack the basil leaves in a pile and roll lengthwise. Slice into strips and chop into small pieces. Set aside.
Tear or chop the greens and sprouts and add to a salad bowl.
Add diced avocado and mango to the salad bowl.
Measure the yogurt, pour on top of the salad, and toss.
Sprinkle chopped basil on top and enjoy!

This mashed turnips and potatoes recipe is a good way to use turnips if you are not familiar with them. It is also high in vitamin C, which is important for our immunity.
The Rio Grande bosque is a unique and beautiful forest that hugs the Rio Grande river and provides habitat for a variety of wildlife. The bosque has miles of walking trails open to the public. These easily accessible, shady trails allow one to enjoy the outdoors without leaving the city limits.
