Three Sisters Kitchen uses the power and love of local food to create economic opportunity, improve community health, and bring our diverse communities together around the table. A core component of the organization was our Downtown Three Sisters Kitchen Cafe, which provides seasonal menus highlighting locally grown and manufactured foods from local farms and producers.
We are currently hiring a Counter Service Associate to help us run our new fast-casual local food and beverage service at Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum. The Counter Service Associate position is a cross-trained position between three stations behind the counter: POS/Action Station, Barista Station, and Food Prep Station. The CS Associate is responsible for quality assurance, running food and drinks, making beverages, operating the Point of Sales system, and engaging customers in exemplary service. The Associate is also responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy bar, prep stations, counters, compost and waste management bins, and seating area. The Associate reports directly to the Local Foods Shop and Café Manager and works closely with front of house staff. This position requires knowledge and experience in restaurant or retail sales and customer service. This position may require working catering and special events outside of normal hours. Prior food service experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Exemplary customer service
- Ability to knowledgeably answer customer questions about the menu and organizational mission
- Cleaning and Bussing tables, expedite food and drink exposition
- Successful quality assurance of food and beverages prior to being expedited
- Maintaining cleanliness in concessions space and behind the counter
- Support day-to-day cafe operations (for example: Side work, making syrups and concentrates, etc.)
- Consistent quality beverage creation
- Operation of POS system and ability to handle cash and credit card transactions for concessions
- Operation of an espresso machine, commercial grinders, and coffee brewers
- Operation of a TurboChef oven, induction burner, and other kitchen equipment
- Frequent dishwashing, sanitization of food prep area, kitchen equipment, coffee station, and action station
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and standards regarding safe handling of
food - Waste management, including compost and recycling
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Prior restaurant experience is a plus
- Friendly and efficient customer service
- Excited to work in an an environment that serves children and families
- Flexibility

- Desire to bolster the NM food economy and community
- Ability to be professional in a food service setting
- Obtaining and maintaining a current ServSafe Food Handler Certificate
- Availability to work special events outside regularly scheduled hours
- Prior barista experience is a plus
- Ability to knowledgeably answer customer questions about the menu
- Ability to prepare, process, assemble, and serve food items safely
- Ability to work weekends
- Willingness to comply with TSK Covid policy, including proof of Covid vaccination and boosters,
and masking on-site
