Ask a Nutritionist
What are peaches and what are their health benefits?
Peaches are sweet, juicy fruits with fuzzy outer skin. Peaches are stone fruits, which means they have one large seed in the center. These little fruits have a lot of vitamin C in them, which is good for our immune system and can even reduce our risk for some serious illnesses. They also have fiber which helps keep our digestive system regular. Ripe peaches should be slightly soft and are best kept in the refrigerator. If your peaches are hard, you can leave them on your counter at room temperature until they soften up.
Try this recipe for making a delicious summer salad with kale, sliced peaches, and crunchy nuts.

Spending some time walking outside every day has been shown to help increase concentration, reduce stress, increase vitamin D levels, and improve heart health. The New Mexico Prescription Trails website identifies outdoor walking and wheelchair rolling routes that are both safe and accessible to individuals and families. You can make a free account here, which will allow you to search for trails based on zip code, city, or county, or by using an interactive map. Each trail description includes trail length in miles and steps, as well as the intensity of the trail. You can save your favorite trails and keep track of which ones you have completed. Don’t forget to mask up around others to prevent the spread of COVID, even when you are outdoors!
