Featured Bag Item
What is Green Garlic and what are its health benefits?
Green Garlic is young garlic that hasn’t fully matured, resembling a scallion with its tender stalks and mild garlic flavor. It adds a fresh, slightly sweet taste to dishes.
Green garlic is rich in:
-
Vitamin C supports immune function and helps iron absorption.
-
Vitamin A is essential for eye health, immune support, and cell growth.
-
Vitamin B6 supports brain health and helps the body convert food into energy.
-
Promotes gut health and may have prebiotic effects.
-
Packed with antioxidants that help protect cells and reduce inflammation.
-
Polysulfides help relax blood vessels, improving circulation and potentially lowering blood pressure.
Cleaning Tips:
-
Rinse thoroughly under cool water to remove any dirt or debris.
-
Trim the ends, wilted or tough leaves.
-
Soak for extra cleaning in a bowl of water for a few minutes before rinsing again.
-
Pat dry using a paper towel or clean cloth to dry before storing or cooking.
Storage Tip: Green garlic should be stored in the refrigerator, wrapped in a damp paper towel, and placed in a plastic bag. An alternative is to use a glass container with some water at the bottom.
Cooking Tips: Mix into homemade dips, dressings, or garlic butter. Or add to stir fry, scrambled eggs, or pasta dishes. Green garlic is very versatile and can be added to many dishes, raw or cooked!
Whip up a quick, delicious dish: spaghetti with green garlic! A simple dish packed with flavor.
