Featured Bag Item

What are Sweet Potato Leaves and what are their health benefits?

Sweet potato leaves are heart shaped greens that are typically medium or large in size and range from light green to purple in color. When cooked, sweet potato leaves have a sweet taste, similar to that of spinach.
Nutrition Information: Sweet potato leaves contain vitamin A, B, C, D, E, and F. They also contain sodium, potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium, phosphorus, and manganese, which are all essential minerals. These nutrients work to help boost immunity, promote healthy digestion, lower cholesterol, regulate blood sugar, and promote heart and eye health.
Fun Fact: Sweet potato leaves are native to South America and were originally used by the Incans. They are now commonly found in the U.S, Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, and Central America.
Sweet potato leaves can be stored wrapped in a paper towel in an open bag in the refrigerator. These last only a few days, so it is important to use them quickly.
Here is a great recipe that demonstrates how sweet potato leaves can be used as a tasty side dish! Sweet Potato Leaves Stir Fry
