Welcome to your third ReFresh newsletter of the season! We’re hoping the monsoon season brings just the right amount of rain for growing!

Featured Bag Item

Peaches are high in vitamin A and C, which have antioxidant properties that help maintain our overall health. Peaches are also high in fiber, which reduces cholesterol and manages blood sugar levels by slowing the rate of sugar absorption in the body. Peaches can be served fresh or baked. To ripen peaches faster, place peaches in a brown paper bag on the kitchen counter. Once the peaches have reached ripeness, then you should place them in the refrigerator. They should last about an additional week in the refrigerator.

Recipes We Love!
Check out the below three recipes that you can use your Refresh bag with.
Crispy Fingerling potatoes – enjoy hot as a side for grilled meats or veggies

Tomato Basil Salad recipe – Can be enjoyed as a side salad

Potato Onion Frittata – Can be enjoyed as a breakfast, hot or cold.
Potatoes are an excellent source of vitamin C and potassium (more than a banana). Fingerlings are also a good source of vitamin B6 and are fat, sodium and cholesterol-free. Fingerling potatoes can be served as a side dish with a protein, sauce or soup.
Onions contain antioxidants that have been linked to reduced risk of cancer, lower blood sugar levels, and improved bone health.
Basil is an herb that its essential oils can help lower cholesterol and triglycerides. It also contains magnesium which can help improve blood flow by reducing inflammation and allowing muscles and blood vessels to relax.

Community Urban Homesteading: Are you interested in living more sustainably while you deepen your connection with nature around your home? Join a new community urban homesteading group. The group will meet on the first Tuesday of each month to exchange ideas, bring questions and share progress on projects. Join to learn about the possibilities of urban and backyard homesteading. This group will start meeting August 15 at the Cherry Hills Library in the Cherry Hills Meeting room from 6:30-7:30pm

Bosque Chile Fest: August 19th 3pm-8pm and August 20th from 11am-4pm at the Villa Hispana at Expo New Mexico. There will be live music, food and art. Tickets are about $15, not including parking. Get tickets at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bosque-chile-fest-tickets-658737299997
